Vitamins – Important for maintaining body functions



Vitamins are the nutrients that our body needs in order to maintain functions such as immunity and metabolism. They are water soluble and fat soluble and are the most important parts of our body. Fat soluble vitamins are stored in fat cells of the body. On the other hand, water soluble vitamins are not stored in our body. Our body takes it from the food we eat and then excrete what is not needed as waste. Water soluble vitamins can be destroyed while they are cooked. So, care should be taken while cooking them.

Fat soluble vitamins include vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin K and Vitamin E. Water soluble vitamins include Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, B6,B12, Biotin , Folic acid, Pantothenic acid and Vitamin C.
